Starting in April of next year, Alaska Airlines will be launching a new daily nonstop service between Honolulu and Oakland and Honolulu and San Jose, California.

The Honolulu service begins April 10, 2012, and complements Alaska Airlines’ existing daily nonstop flights from Oakland and San Jose to Hawaii’s other three major destinations: Kona, on the Big Island; Lihue, on the island of Kauai; and Kahului, Maui.

Alaska Airlines is offering a special introductory fare of $149 each way for tickets purchased by Nov. 4, 2011, for travel between April 10 and June 9, 2012.

“We are extremely pleased with the additional routes and increase in seat inventory, which will contribute to growth and expansion for the entire state. Additionally, Alaska Airlines will be increasing service from Oakland and San Jose to Lihue and Kona to daily service beginning in

March 2012,” said Mike McCartney, president and chief executive officer of the Hawaii Tourism Authority, in a written statement today. “With the additional service, Alaska Airlines will have the second largest number of air seats servicing the US West to the Hawaiian Islands.”

“The HTA estimates the two new routes will contribute up to $118 million in visitor expenditures and $12.8 million in tax revenue annually. The US West is an important market to our tourism economy and we are extremely pleased that there continues to be demand from this region. Air access is essential for Hawai‘i’s visitor industry, and these increases in airlift will contribute to a stronger economy for all of the Hawaiian Islands. We look forward to working with Alaska Airlines to ensure success of their new routes.”

Alaska Airlines offers nine daily flights to Hawaii from Oakland, San Jose and Sacramento including the new service announced today. During the peak winter travel season, Alaska Airlines offers 24 flights a day to Hawaii from Anchorage and seven West Coast cities, including Bellingham, Seattle, Portland, San Diego as well as Oakland, San Jose and Sacramento.

“These new flights provide customers in the Bay Area with convenient daily service to all four of the major Hawaiian Islands, including the Big Island, Maui, Kauai and now Oahu,” said Joe Sprague, Alaska Airlines’ vice president of marketing. “We’re nuts about Hawaii and thrilled to be giving away a plane’s worth of seats to the Hawaiian Islands to celebrate.”
